It's good to see that people are keeping the stories about the mortgage crash effect on pets in the news.
And just as important, letting people know what their options are and what they can do to help they can do to help!

U.K. turns CCTV, terrorism laws on pooping dogs
It's only a matter of time before this starts to happen everywhere. Of course everyone should pick up after their own dog, that goes without saying, but this is taking things way too far. ![]() Monday, May 12, 2008L.A. pet law requires pets sterilized at 4 months - CNN.com
L.A. pet law requires pets sterilized at 4 months - CNN.com
This is a bad idea. Yes, of course, spaying/neutering your pet is the right thing to do, no argument there. But the decision on **when** to do it is something that has to be decided by you and your vet. The government has no business picking a random number of days/weeks/months and making that the law. This type of law can do far more harm than good! Friday, May 9, 2008Wednesday, May 7, 2008Tuesday, April 29, 2008Dogs reduce allergies in kids
Report says having a dog reduces allergies in kids
Well, for what it's worth, I didn't have a dog as a kid, and I have allergies. You may have heard about the beagle puppy that some creep attacked with acid.* Evil, sick, twisted, depraved, wicked, heinous, loathsome...I just can't find a single word to describe the person who could do such a thing.
I'm surprised and bothered that the news isn't pointing out that this isn't a one-time event. A while back another dog was found, in the same area, after another acid attack. Call me an alarmist, but this seems like more like a pattern than just a horrible coincidence. And where is the reporting on where the dogs come from? Are these family pets that have been stolen? Or someone abusing their own pets? The good news is in both cases a local group (START II of Bergen County) has stepped in to help get these poor pups the medical treatment they need. If you want to make a donation, you can call them at: 201-843-8968 or visit "http://www.volunteermatch.org/orgs/org49333.html. Keep a close eye on your pets, and give them an extra hug tonight. *Fair warning - the stories and photos are hard to read/disturbing to view. Several years ago I got a furry roommate - a cockapoo named Bailey. That led me to looking into various resources for information on life with a pup. Here are some of the magazines I've found useful and interesting (hover over link for pricing and purchase info):
And for those of you who visit here for tech content...this was also a good reason to test drive Amazon.com's Product Preview features. And if someone decided to click on one (or more) of these and I get a little payback from Amazon, well, that's a bonus too! ;-) Labels: dogs, grooming, health, magazines, medical, pets, toys, training, travel |
