This is Bailey - a female, black and white cockapoo, and my furry little roommate. The information posted here are things I've learned and/or found in my quest to keep my pup happy and healthy. I hope you find something helpful or interesting here!

Deadly Dog Flu Spreads - Canine influenza, the potentially deadly H3N8 virus commonly known as dog flu, is spreading.
This sounds like good news! It will probably also make it easier to get the right dosage size for the dogs too. I know firsthand how hard it is to cut human meds down to the right size for the pup - getting exactly the right dose every time is almost impossible.
I'd imagine that (a) it depends on the temperament of your pet (b) you'd want to slowly introduce your pet to these activities, but once those hurdles are covered, it might be fun!
This is a good article about pets with allergies. There's just one thing I'd like to add...you should check with your Vet before giving your pet any medication, including Benadryl.
My pup has seasonal allergies that get bad in the Spring and Fall, just like mine. So far, the hydroxyzine our Vet prescribed has been a huge help! We've had to adjust the dosage a couple of times over the years, but other than that, no worries. I give the pup one or two pills a day, depending on how severe her symptoms are, and generally after a month or so we wean her off them and wait for the next trouble season to arrive.
February is Pets' Dental Health Month You know that caring for your pets' teeth should be a part of your regular routine, but do find it tends to be the one dropped most often?
February is a good time to get back on track. To help, visit the Veterinary Oral Health Council's website at http://www.vohc.org/accepted_products.htm for helpful products that have been awarded their Seal of Acceptance.
We are sending this to our California animal lovers and asking you all to read the following and then make a quick call to Sacramento.
It's no secret that California is in dire need of money, but the governor is proposing that pets be considered 'luxuries' and therefore a 9% to 10% tax should be levied on services rendered by vets. While most of us can afford such a tax, others will be pushed beyond their ability to pay, resulting in the abandonment of many pets.
Please protest this tax by calling Sacramento. The number is to an automated survey at the governor's office. The call is not free, but it It will take less than a minute and will cost very little.
Dial: 916-445-2841
The numbers to press in response to the questions are: 1 - 5 - 1 - 2 (i.e., 1 = for English; 5 = to transfer to veterinary tax proposal; 1 = to choose to comment on the veterinary tax proposal; and 2 = to oppose the tax.
Take a moment and take action NOW. Please tell your friends and ask them to do the same.

Those of you who know me IRL know that I am a dog person. Several years ago I got a furry roommate - a cockapoo named Bailey. Modern Dog - a lifestyle magazine for urban dogs and their companions featuring expert advice, dog-friendly travel destinations, full fashion spreads, the latest accessories for your pooch and what's new in the doggie world.

And for those of you who visit here for tech content...this was also a good reason to test drive Amazon.com's Product Preview features. And if someone decided to click on one (or more) of these and I get a little payback from Amazon, well, that's a bonus too! ;-)
