Life in Prison Without Parole?

Act fast - before they make this
a law: the anti-terrorism act currently before congress stipulates that hackers,
virus writers, and Web site defacers will be treated as terrorists. The
maximum penalty is life in prison without parole.

Let me put this in perspective...murders, rapists, child molesters all get
limited sentences and parole, but a 17-yr-old trying out his/her tech skills
(in, granted, a less than best manner) will get life in prison without parole?
This is madness!!!

However, we are not powerless to stop this. As a citizen of the
United States, you have the power to object to a proposed law. If things continue
to follow this sudden turn, many of our rights may be away. I know it sounds
paranoid, even extreme, but there are people that would like to do this. So,
what to do: Write your senators and US representatives and tell them that you
do not support this or want this made law. Just telling them that alone will
be good. The more people they hear it from, the less likely they are to vote
for it.

Here are some web sites that you may find helpful for this: A
list of US Senators
. Find yours. It will take thirty seconds e-mail them.

A list of House of Representatives members. Take another 30 seconds and e-mail your rep. Or call, that's even faster and will make sure they hear from you in time.

Don't wait - do this now. This is being rushed thru and getting undone is much, much harder than stopping it now.

Microsoft to Host XP Party in NYC Oct 25
I think it's great that MS is making a point of visiting New York City, people need to get back to visiting the greatest city in the world!

But I still stand by my "just say no to XP" statements. Supporting NYC is good, Activation is bad.

10-yr-old Rumor Rides Again
Microsoft, Webdings, and Wingdings. It's an old story that has started showing up again, so before you forward that e-mail, please read: MS Denies Wingding Thing, Again

Food 4 Thought
Aboard Flight 564

Just Say No to XP
Look, I'm not normally given to Microsoft bashing - just because a company is successful is no reason to beat on them. But this Activation via a 42-digit Confirmation ID [no kidding - 42-digits!] is nuts. The last thing anything needs when trying to fix/upgrade a system is one more annoyance. Stick with Windows 2000 - it's stable, runs all the current software, and no activation BS.

Learn more about the MS Windows XP activation plan.
